Why are our deer different ? The Answer: Genetics

Between 2004-2008, Thunderhill Ranch used artificial insemination using semen from Redoy Weatherby, Redoy Bill Redoy Ben, Zorro, Doug, Dreambuck, Redoy Hock, Reno, Doc, Redoy Roller Redoy Marlin and Hockster to improve the foundation genetics. During the 2009 breeding season  we will again use only outstanding genetic quality ranch born breeder bucks. 85 adult does will be exposed during the 2009 breeding season to 3 two year old ,  3 three year old and 1 two year old breeder bucks.

Thunder Kicker, DNAS # 37560, a 3 year old son of Reno, DNAS # 6826, 17 points, and 194 B & C  at 2, is breeding 5  of our original foundation does.

G-624, DNAS #37658, a 3 year old son of Redoy Roller, DNAS #7073, out of High Roller, DNAS #2793 is breeding 13 of our original foundation does.

Another example of the 2009 breeding program is the use of R-529,DNAS # 28225, a 4 year old, 218 B & C at 3 years, 24 points pure Texas breeder out of Thunder Hunter, DNAS # 10792, and grandson of Mighty Mouse, DNAS # 6876. R-529 is breeding 8-11  does. The resulting fawns will be DNA certified for 3-5 generations on the top and bottom and will be almost pure Texas genetics with 200+ B & C on both the dam and sire side.

Additionally, the 2009 breeding program will use R-534, DNAS # 28226, a 4 year old, 205 B & C at 3 years, 24 points pure Texas breeder out of Thunder Hunter, DNAS # 10792, and grandson of Mighty Mouse, DNAS # 6876. R-534 is breeding 12 of the original foundation does. The resulting fawns will be DNA certified for 3-5 generations on the top and bottom and will be pure Texas with 200+ B & C on both the dam and sire side.

The 2009 breeding program will  use G-635, DNAS #37655, a 3 year son of Reno, DNAS #6826 is breeding 14 of our best does.  They are certified out of Buford, Redoy Weatherby, Reno, Doc, Redoy Roller out of High Roller and Redoy Bill.  The resulting fawns will be Northern-Texas cross with 200-400 B & C on both the dam and sire side and DNA certified 3-5 generations on both the top and the bottom.

Why are our deer different? Answer: Deer Handling Facility

The state of the art Quad Pen System and Handling Barn allows the easy movement and clean handling of our deer. 2 Grow out pens with observation tower enables easy viewing of the bucks. This observation tower is used as a marketing / sales tool for viewing stocker bucks as well as a viewing tower for breeder buck selection. Darting is minimized at Thunderhill Ranch due to the design of the scientific deer breeding facility.
