Thunder Hill Ranch News
September 15th, 2009
After months of dust and heat, Thunderhill Ranch finally received about 4 inches of rain. How exciting to see washed out puddled roads. The Llano river is running rapidly, the tanks and ponds have water and the deer are frisky. Ken and Chad Barington have plowed and seeded the six food plots around the deer hunting blinds.
All are looking forward to hunting season. Make your reservations now.

A tiny doe fawn slipped out of the fence within a day of being born. She had not been tagged so we didn’t know which pen in which she belonged. Three pens of Mama does acted like she belonged there. It was decided that she would be taken to the barn to be bottle fed.
Bottle feeding is not the policy at Thunderhill but she was so tiny. Every 4 hours, one of the staff went to the barn to feed her. In the beginning she fell asleep while eating so we didn’t know if she would survive. Each day she got stronger and ate more.
She was joined several days later by a little buck fawn whose Mother had been sick. He was much bigger and loved being fed.

A neighbor ranch that also breeds deer bottle feeds all their fawns. They agreed to take the Thunderhill fawns, so our 2 fawns have a happy new home.

After a long drought, Thunderhill Ranch thankfully received 4″ of rain March 11-March 13, 2009. The ponds all have good water and the Llano River has more water.
Brad and Chad took advantage of the soft soil to disk and seed food plots. The ranch bought a new 14 ton protein hopper to be used for replenishing the supplemental high protein feeders in the pasture.

Here at the Ranch, we really like hearing from our customers and clientele. That’s why we’ve decided to start sharing our testimonials with everyone.
We are so impressed by the beauty and scope of Thunderhill Ranch and so appreciative of your time and effort in showing us around. Your animals are so impressive and beautiful as is the entire operation. From the horseperson’s standpoint, I was particularly fascinated by the genetic study and tracking.
